Basic terms for hosting mods, files, repositories, and creator projects on Modfolio.
By using Modfolio, you agree to these Terms of Service and our posted policies. If you use the service for an organization, server, studio, or team, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity to these terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must provide accurate account information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account unless the activity results from our own security failure.
You may not impersonate another person or organization, create accounts for abuse or ban evasion, or use the service if you are prohibited from doing so under applicable law.
You retain ownership of the mods, files, source code, media, text, screenshots, metadata, and other content you upload or publish through Modfolio.
You are solely responsible for your content, including making sure you have the rights needed to upload, host, modify, distribute, or otherwise make it available on the service.
You grant Modfolio a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, process, adapt for technical display, transmit, publicly display, and distribute your content solely as needed to operate, secure, improve, and promote the service.
For content you mark as public, that license includes making the content available to other users through project pages, downloads, previews, feeds, embeds, search, backups, and related site features. This license ends within a commercially reasonable period after you remove the content from public availability, except to the extent retention is required for backups, legal obligations, abuse prevention, or dispute resolution.
You may upload mods, project files, patches, repositories, builds, and related release assets only if you have the necessary rights to do so. That includes rights in game assets, code, trademarks, audio, images, and bundled dependencies.
You may not upload malware, spyware, credential stealers, destructive code, unlawful content, deceptive downloads, or content designed to interfere with a game, application, creator, or another user beyond the ordinary scope of a disclosed mod or patch.
If your project modifies or depends on a third-party game, application, mod, library, or asset pack, you are responsible for complying with that third party's licenses, terms, and usage restrictions.
You may not use Modfolio to violate the law, infringe intellectual property or privacy rights, harass others, distribute spam, manipulate rankings or metrics, scrape private data, probe or attack infrastructure, or circumvent product limits, moderation decisions, or access controls.
Realistic content that falls under graphic violence, gore, sexual content, nudity, explicit sexual acts, self-harm, suicide, eating-disorder content, hate symbols, extremist imagery, slurs, harassment, humiliation, non-consensual sexualization, dangerous acts, weapons, drug use, religious offense, blasphemy, sacrilegious imagery, body-image, fetish, or humiliation categories is strictly not allowed. Realistic content means content that depicts people, bodies, injuries, places, or events in a way that a reasonable viewer could interpret as real, photographic, or documentary, including photorealistic AI-generated or heavily edited images.
You may not misuse collaboration, issue tracking, comments, profile pages, or release channels to distribute unrelated advertising, scams, or fraudulent fundraising.
We may remove or disable access to content that we believe violates these terms, platform policy, or applicable law, including claims involving copyright, trademark, privacy, malware, or unauthorized distribution.
We may terminate accounts of repeat infringers or users who repeatedly upload content that they do not have rights to distribute.
Modfolio is still in active development. Many features are incomplete, may change without notice, and may contain bugs or unfinished user experiences while the first release is being prepared.
Modfolio may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We may set or change limits on storage, bandwidth, project visibility, collaboration features, or monetization tools.
We are not obligated to continue hosting any specific project, release artifact, or integration forever, though we will generally try to avoid unnecessary disruption.
Sponsors and donations are the only paid features available in the first release. If you sponsor Modfolio, sponsor a placement, or make a donation, you agree to the pricing, donation, billing, and payment terms presented at the time of payment.
Except where required by law, sponsor and donation payments are non-refundable once processed. You are responsible for any taxes, chargebacks, or payment disputes associated with those payments.
We do not sell your data.
You choose which personal details you display publicly, privately, or to professional and recruiter-facing audiences. Modfolio profile settings are intended to let you control whether details such as your name, location, portfolio information, and professional availability are shown.
Displaying personal details such as your name and location can help recruiters validate a potential employee or contractor, but you are responsible for keeping sensitive details private if you do not want them shown to those audiences.
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, remove content, reclaim inactive handles, or restrict specific features if we believe it is necessary to protect users, the platform, third-party rights, or our legal and operational interests.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, licenses already granted for service operation, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute-related terms, will survive.
The service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. Mods, patches, builds, and user-hosted projects can break software, corrupt saves, create compatibility issues, or expose security risks. You use them at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Modfolio disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Modfolio and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities arising out of or related to the service.
If applicable law does not allow a full limitation, our liability will be limited to the greatest extent permitted and, for paid users, generally will not exceed the amount you paid us for the relevant feature during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date on this page and may provide additional notice for material changes. Continued use of the service after the updated terms take effect means you accept the revised terms.
